Click and Drag to Move Tasks in 'Enterprise' Scheduling Mode - Task Gantt View

Modified on Tue, 23 Sep at 4:28 PM

As with Classic scheduling, you can also click-and-drag tasks in Enterprise and Advanced scheduling - that is:

  1. Click-and-drag a single task to move it
  2. Hold shift + click on one task, then while still holding shift, click on another task to create a group of tasks - dragging this group of tasks to move them
  3. Hold control (ctrl) + click on a number of tasks - dragging this selection of tasks to move them

Enterprise Scheduling Click and Drag Notes
When a task is clicked and dragged to a new start date - the existing constraint type will stay set, with the new task start date applied.  Any subsequent linked tasks (successors) will move, or not, given their link lags and existing constraint types.

i.e. an As Soon As Possible task will stay as an As Soon As Possible, a Start No Earlier Than task will stay as a Start No Earlier Than task with the new start date set, a Must Start On task will stay as a Must Start On task with the new start date set, etc...

The Task's predecessor link's Lag is adjusted automatically

If the click and dragged task has a predecessor link, the predecessor link's duration will automatically adjust and save!  And again, any subsequent linked tasks (successors) will move, or not, given their link lags and existing constraint types.

i.e. if a task's predecessor's finish-to-start lag was three days, and the task is brought forward a day, the lag will automatically adjust and save as two days.  Or, if the task was pushed back a day, the lag will automatically adjust and save from three to four days.
