Rave's Enterprise Scheduling has new and exciting 'Click and Drag' Task Gantt view updates being released on Wednesday the 13th November 2024.

1. The Constraint type is kept constant with a new Start Date
Previously when clicking and dragging a task to a new start date in Enterprise Scheduling, Rave would automatically set a Start No Earlier Than constraint type with the selected start date. While this was appropriate in many instances, feedback from users was that this was not always necessary, and annoying if an existing constraint type was already in place, and this was being overridden.

This update means that when a task is clicked and dragged to a new start date - the existing constraint type will stay set, with the new task start date applied.  Any subsequent linked tasks (successors) will move, or not, given their link lags and existing constraint types.

i.e. an As Soon As Possible task will stay as an As Soon As Possible, a Start No Earlier Than task will stay as a Start No Earlier Than task with the new start date set, a Must Start On task will stay as a Must Start On task with the new start date set, etc...

2. The Task's predecessor link's Lag is adjusted automatically
Previously a task's predecessor/successor link needed to be altered by one of the link editing modules to change the lag duration.

This update means that if the click and dragged task has a predecessor link, the predecessor link's duration will automatically adjust and save!  And again, any subsequent linked tasks (successors) will move, or not, given their link lags and existing constraint types.

i.e. if a tasks predecessor's finish-to-start lag was three days, and the task is brought forward a day, the lag will automatically adjust and save as two days.  Or, if the task was pushed back a day, the lag will automatically adjust and save from three to four days.
