How to Find and Delete any Duplicates within a CSV (Inventory) File

Modified on Tue, 27 Feb, 2024 at 2:31 PM

If you have any inventory line item duplicates, that are not the same price i.e. the same code with two different cost prices, then RAVE will identify that as an error, and will not upload your CSV Inventory file.  You will have to go back into your spreadsheet to find and delete them.

You can find duplicate values, and/or delete duplicate product lines via Microsoft Excel - we'll look at the Duplicate Values function to find any duplicates first, and then the Remove Duplicate function.

To Find/Highlight Duplicate Values

To Find/Highlight Duplicate Values:

  1. Open your CSV file
  2. Select all cells by clicking on the top left corner spot - that triangle to the left of A and above the 1
  3. In the CSV search field - type in the keyword 'duplicate values'
  4. And click on the 'Duplicate Values' option

Microsoft Excel will search your CSV and highlight any duplicates (in red) for you.  You can then delete/edit lines as required.

To Remove Duplicate Values

To Remove Duplicate Values:

  1. Open your CSV file
  2. Select all cells by clicking on the top left corner spot - that triangle to the left of A and above the 1
  3. In the CSV search field - type in the keyword 'duplicate'
  4. And click on the 'Remove Duplicates'
  5. Check the columns you want to find duplicates in - either tick all columns or just the product code column - to search for matches and delete any duplicates
  6. Click OK to confirm

Microsoft Excel will search your CSV and delete any duplicates for you.
